XF551 - Issues Everywhere!!!!!

Hi Erhard,

Sorry for the direct message (in English). I was told you are working hard on the XF551 v6.0 board and have found errors.

I have been very frustrated as the board had the initial power issue that was fixed with a single wire but it also seems you have found an issue with the transistors Q1-Q3. Did you just rotate those to fix?

I have built up two full boards with no success. I'm going to try your fix and see how it goes. I'm using the smaller ROMs and have a Single Patch ROM and Hyper+ ROM I will test with and let you know how I go.

It's been a really difficult journey and I'm disappointed DropCheck didn't do more testing before release. However, at least she's trying her best for the Atari community.

I'll let you know if I find any other errors. Please let me know what you discover.

Hi,

please note again that 6 traces need to be cut at the FDC socket.

The affected pins are 3,4,5,6,7 and 8.

One is within the socket area and one is on the pcb's lower side.

I just sent a post but my board looks different to the board photo you posted. Can I just lift the legs U2-3,4,5,6,7,8 and solder those legs via jumper wires directly to U1 pins?

Things should read:

FDC PIN 3 (A0) -> 8040 PIN 27 FDC PIN 4 (A1) -> 8040 PIN 28 FDC PIN 5 -> 8040 PIN 12 FDC PIN 6 -> 8040 PIN 13 FDC PIN 7 -> 8040 PIN 14 FDC PIN 8 -> 8040 PIN 15
